RESOURCES RELATED TO IMPORTING IN Vietnam

Vietnam does not require a company to have an import or export license to set up a trading company. However, to be able to conduct import or export business, a foreign investor must register with the Department of Planning and Investment (DPI).

When implementing the import procedure, enterprise presents to the Customs agency the cosmetic product proclamation report which has been issued the receipt number by the Medicine Management department – the Health Ministry.

EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) will allow EU exporters and investors to access a fast-growing market of 90 million people and to consolidate their presence in one of the most dynamic regions in the world.

The Japanese government started negotiating a bilateral free trade agreement (economic partnership agreement) with Vietnam in 2007. As of 2008, nine negotiating rounds had been held. The agreement was finally signed in 2008 and took effect in 2009.

CPTPP is a FTA between Canada, Vietnam, Australia, Brunei, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore. The Agreement is valid in Vietnam from 2019. The CPTPP incorporates the tariff outcomes contained in original TPP Agreement.

South Korea & Vietnam have concluded negotiations for a bilateral FTA at a signing ceremony in Busan witnessed by Vietnamese Prime Minister & South Korean President. The FTA will remove import tariffs on more than 90 percent of all products.

The UK and Vietnam signed the UKVFTA on December, 2020, as the UK transitions out of the EU. The FTA was signed by the ambassadors of both countries in London, increasing trade between the two countries. The UKVFTA came into effect on May, 2021.

As of January 01. 2014, Vietnam-Chile FTA officially took effect, creating a opportunity to boost the economic tie between the two countries. According to the agreement, Vietnam commits to abandoning 87.8% the tariff rates for Chile for 15 years.

Under AANZFTA, many of Viet Nam's tariffs on goods trade with New Zealand have already been eliminated or are on their way to being eliminated by 2020. CPTPP will eliminate all outstanding tariffs on New Zealand exports to Viet Nam.

The U.S.-Vietnam Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA) is a comprehensive document covering trade in goods, protection of intellectual property rights, trade in services. The BTA is the most comprehensive trade agreement Vietnam has signed to date.

QCVN (Product Certification for Technical Regulation) is a mandatory certification system stipulated by Vietnam STAMEQ (Standard Quality & Measurement Quality). The mandatory items are gasoline, biofuels, diesel, electrical/electronic products, etc.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade is the government ministry in Vietnam responsible for the advancement, promotion, governance, regulation, management and growth of industry and trade. The former Ministry of Trade has its origins in 1945.
